Trader Joe's is growing its footprint. The California-based grocer plans to open 30 new stores across 16 states in the coming weeks and months, according to a list of the planned locations.

The chain currently operates in 42 states and Washington, D.C. It is known for budget-friendly prices, seasonal favorites and its private label products.

Opening dates have not been announced for most of the new stores. Two have already opened this week, however: one in California on Thursday and another in Utah on Friday. The Utah store is in West Jordan.

For Nebraska shoppers, the list includes a new location in Omaha, at 210 N 191st St. No opening date for that store was given.

California has the most planned locations, with four: Encinitas, Riverbank, San Diego and Anaheim. Illinois also has four, with two in Chicago and one each in Joliet and Oswego. Florida and Texas each have three. The Florida stores are in Boynton Beach, Orlando and Sarasota, while the Texas locations are in Cedar Park, Mansfield and Bellaire.

Arizona, New Jersey, New York and Washington state each have two. Both Arizona stores are in Phoenix. The New Jersey locations are in Jersey City and West Orange, and the New York stores are in Syracuse and Yonkers. In Washington state, one is planned for Spokane Valley and another for Seattle.

Six more states have one planned location each. Colorado's is in Denver, Maryland's is in Baltimore and Massachusetts' is in Quincy. Michigan's is in Farmington Hills, Ohio's is in University Heights and Oregon's is in Bend.

Together, the locations span the West Coast, the Southwest, the Midwest, the South and the Northeast, adding to the retailer's presence in states where it already operates.
